it takes two

would you meet me by the water, baby?
we'll have a really good time.
would you meet me by the water, baby?
'cause i can't get you off of my mind.

i've been thinking everyday about you.
don't fit anywhere into my life but that's okay
'cause i think i might be right for you
and because of that, i'm not scared at all.
and everyone says i'm crazy
everyone says i'm a fool.
would you meet me by the water tonight?
'cause i'm ready to break all the rules.

please don't leave me standing with my heart in my hand
i can't last here.
i'm breaking down and no one understands why i got here.
but i knew for the very first moment i met you
you'd be the one.

would you meet me by the water tonight?
would you please fall asleep holding my hand?
'cause i've got everything in store for you, baby
if you'll be my man.

i is sick

cough cough.
my nose is running away.
i have one ouch ulcer in my mouth.
boo.

in the UK,
i forwent a lot of sleep
and made a night visit to nottingham
where i had dinner with two of my old uni mates
and we chatted till the cows came home.

the bus ride to nottingham took around three and a half hours.
people (and things) who smell like fried fart should not be allowed on buses.

i didn't eat nothing but ham in nottingham.

back in singapore,
i landed in terminal 3
and blind led blind through the sprawling airport.
i was a bit overwhelmed by the colorful carpets and chairs and floor.

our one and only a380
fell down and went off the tarmac
after its caretaker (aka tow truck) broke down.
luckily not serious.

we first in everything.
first to have big plane.
first to fall down in new terminal.

time to sleep now.
so that cough cough goes away
and nose returns.

resolutions (of the photo kind)

happy new year ya'll!!!
i hope 2007 was awesome for everyone
and that 2008 will bring louder cheers and even more love!

i shall use my first post of the year
to finish up last year's blogging!

so...the day after we visited venice,
we ventured out for yet another long eurostar ride
to the city of firenze, otherwise known as florence.

it was chock-a-block on the train and standing room only
even though our tickets cost the same
as those with allocated seats.
we ended up sitting on the floor
near an exit/fire hydrant/bin/toilet
and a mountain of luggage.

upon reaching firenze 2hrs 40mins later,
we decided to get onto the sightseeing bus
since that was the easiest way
for tourists who haven't done much research
to get around to the city's main attractions.

our first stop was firenze's duomo,
the cathedral of s. maria del fiore,
where i lit a candle, made a christmas wish,
and enjoyed its peace and quiet.

the magnificent facade of the duomo
made us stop to take many photos
before we headed off to get me a cup of hot chocolate
and to hop on the bus again to continue our journey.

we crossed the arno river
and caught a glimpse of ponte vecchio,
the oldest and most famous bridge in florence.

the bus also brought us past palazzo pitti and the boboli gardens,
both of which hold some of the most important florentine works of art.
due to time constraints and the awful cold,
we decided not to get off to explore the various places this time round.

the bus did make a photo stop at piazzale michelangelo though,
where we got a panoramic view of firenze,
and took pictures with a massive replica of david.

i would be damn cold if i were him.

the bus took us back to the train station eventually,
where we walked about aimlessly for a little while,
and searched for and found a quaint little restaurant
that gave us a sumptuous meal of pasta and pizza,
before heading back to milano (with allocated seats on the train this time).

i am glad i got that superficial glimpse of florence
and will definitely visit the city again
for a more in depth look of the place and all that it offers.

got up at an ungodly time the next morning for our barcelona shuttle,
where all i got to see was a lovely sunrise
and the nondescript airport.
i hope we'll get to stopover at barcelona some time soon!

back in milano, we paid a christmas eve visit to the duomo
and i finally remembered what it looks like.

took touristy photos with the second largest church in the world,
the statue of italy's first king on horseback,
the lovely christmas tree
and the yucks pigeons who flew to me
because a black dude put corn in my hand
(and tried to get money off me for it).

we spent more time taking pictures inside the galleria vittorio emanuele
and had a very brisk look at what the boutiques had to offer.
i am very proud to say that i flew home empty-handed
and did not contribute to milano's christmas sales.

after a meal of yummy but gritty vongole spaghetti,
we walked to the christmas night market
and had a ball of a time looking, and refraining from buying,
the big and little linglongs and knickknacks that were on sale.

i wanted to stay on for midnight mass at the cathedral
but decided against it because i was worried
i won't be able to get transport back to the hotel.
so we left after scouring for some food to da bao
and i counted down to christmas in my warm, comfy bed.

so that's the last long flight i had at the tail end of 2007.
many thanks to wendy for making it such a lovely trip
and for using, and letting me use, her dslr to take such gorgeous pictures!
