it is too hot for words....
must have something to do with it being hock's birthday (?)

xiang just showed me a website of this fantastic soccer prodigy. he's damn good, and he's only 9 years old! just watch the video and you'll understand.
there's this one goal, from the side of the field, far far away from the goal post...amazing!!! think he beats the s-league players hands down.
and he's so cute - scored a goal, saw someone he knew in the stands, put out both hands and waved with a triumphant grin...awwwww

xiang won an ipod shuffle from drinking a can of pepsi. he doesn't even usually drink pepsi!
we were listening to it the whole time yesterday, even when we were in the car (eh, car no radio lor...)...
so small, so sleek, so ingenious...so FREE...
i want an ipod mini. almost makes me want to start drinking pepsi.
it has been a fucking hot and sweaty morning. only 0955hrs and i'm already irritated and needing to scream a big fat RRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!
it started out with not having enough sleep. coz i only got home at 2am.
it didn't help that i was feeling (and am still feeling) unappreciated.
then some freaking woman stomped on my foot on the mrt. she was all nice and comfy in the seat in front of me (me standing), away from the fucking smelly man who was standing behind me and who looked so gross i wouldn't want to touch him with a million-foot pole.
the woman was talking on the phone, shi-shi-shua-shua-ing away in cantonese. nearing city hall, she stood up. being nice, i made way for her. then the mrt did it's usual jerk when it reached the station, and she took a step back, her freaking heel stomping right onto my poor left foot.
she is NOT light lor! plus, she had the cheek to turn back with a "huh? i stepped on you ah?" look after she OBVIOUSLY heard my pained "FUCK!"
she just said a flippant "sorry" to the air around me, then continued cantonese-ing away on her fucking phone while exiting the mrt.
RAAAAHHH!!!!!! i HATE people like that!!! it would never have happened if you were not on the phone and concentrating on keeping your balance instead. it would have been better if you actually gave a genuine apology. how can you not know if you've stepped on some poor human's living flesh!??!
may a thousand elephants stomp on her feet.
i exited at raffles place. coz i had to find hsbc building. coz i need the company's trustees to issue a cheque for me, and in order for them to do that, they need the ORIGINAL invoice. and i cannot mail it to them coz it's urgent. so it had to be BY HEN BY ZENN.
yes i have the address. but stupid me didn't look in the map for the exact location. i thought i was clever when i saw "exit b - hsbc building" and followed it. i came out to open air, and saw oub, uob, ocbc, citibank, abn amro, dbs...but no hsbc in sight.
i asked a lady at the oub info counter, and she was friendly, but no help at all - she just pointed in a general direction and said "just walk straight and you'll see it".
i walked straight and i didn't see no hsbc.
in the end, i gave my cousin (who works at abn amro) a call. he so sweet, he came down and walked me to hsbc (which was in the opposite direction).
we both got hot and sweaty in the humid morning heat.
it's only 10am. there're only more of such nonsenses to come.
monday blues indeed. and green and purple and grey and black. (eh, sounds like the delta goodrem visit australia rainbow song...except darker...and with more angst...)

we went to watch a scary jap film on wednesday - think it's called "infection"
i didn't catch half of it coz my eyes were shut.
the rest said that it wasn't scary.
i'm a coward. =(
plus feng told me that her dad says i have "gu2 dian3 mei3"...which kinda sounds like i'm some ancient artefact. but i'm flattered.
i'm not just a cowardice, backward (coz i didn't know of takuya) auntie ok! i am a gu dian mei auntie too!

arhaha was reading the newpaper and came across this article on how prankster/s left more than 50 pairs of bras and panties outside a flat in Jurong, over a period of 6 months...
50!!! "different sizes, colours and patterns"...
this is one expensive prank! (for the prankster if he bought them, or for the owners of the bras/panties from whom the prankster stole)
sort of makes me wish i had such a prankster...except that the bras were often either "wet and smelly" or arranged neatly on the steps at the door.
and of course, you don't know where those bras and panties have been *imagines semen, vaginal fluids and some really sick guys*
EWWWWW!
(was going to link the page but can't seem to find it on newpaper online right now...will try again later)
the casino is coming to town!
oh actually..make that TWO!!!
quite duh lah...after all that talk...OF COURSE they're gonna have the casinos....casino debate? what debate? as if it made a difference...it's just to get everyone prepared... *scoffs*
one day no casino, the next, 2 to play in...woohoo! time to relive my CROWN days..arhaha
BUT...casino levy of $100 per day, or $2000 for annual membership!!! what the hell...don't wana let poor auntie me play izit?!?! NOT FAIR!!!
arhaha actually, i don't really care lah...as long as it doesn't bring about a whole lot of delinquents (who will have to be supported by MILK! haha) and dirty smelly winos...it's not as if i'm gona gamble a whole lot at the casino!
the concept looks pretty good...new shops and restaurants, theatres and museums, theme parks...more (hopefully) exciting places for singaporeans and tourists to explore and have fun in...
and hey, 35,000 new jobs and huge gains to economy - welcome to a new (richer) singapore! *brainwash brainwash*
singapore's putting so much into this gamble...hopefully, we'll get even more in return!

arhaha yes, i know it's lame...

driving down the highway
with eyes all fogged up
the radio's turned on but it's soundless
lights all around yet it's dark
i need to floor the car
to push down hard
hear the roar and feel the rush
let everything pass by in a blur
i need to crash
to hear the sound of metal on metal
feel the pain and blood and bones
let the warm red liquid wash away my misery
i need to burn
go up in a fiery ball
fuelled by the hatred, that anger
releasing me from the all-consuming pain
from one end of the island to the other
i am just another crazy driver
encased alone in this metal box
yearning for eternal rest
no one sees the tears
no one hears my strangled gasps
no one smells my fear
no one feels the helplessness

i am so super duper auntie lor!
was walking to tanjong pagar mrt station with a colleague of mine yesterday evening, when we saw these two ladies giving out packets of instant noodles!!!
free food, must be kiasu singaporean and go take.
so we went up to the ladies. only to be told that there was a QUEUE!
we unglued our eyes from the packets of noodles and, lo and behold, there was this queue of about 20+ people.
free food can make one blind to queues.
since it was relatively short, we decided to join it. all the while praying that no one we know will see us standing in line for free maggi mee. (wanted to take a photo of myself in the queue, but..embarrassing lehz....haha)
when we were a few guys shy of getting our hands on the mee, three indian men tried to cut queue in front of me!
being the auntie i am, i said to my colleague rather loudly: "eh, why these people cut queue ah???"
the indian men acted blur and continued standing there, until the guy who was originally in front of me cannot-take-it and said to them, "excuse me, there is a queue".
it was such an in-your-face request to get them to budge off that they had no choice but to meekly go to the back of the queue. HAH!
ahhh the satisfaction of having those 2 FREE packets of new-and-improved maggi mee in my bag (cannot say "holding them in my hands" coz i stuffed them into my bag as soon as i got hold of them - if not, SO EMBARRASSING! haha)...
don't normally eat maggi, coz their mee taste rather weird after i've been exposed to other, yummier brands...but since this is free......shall give verdict after i've tried them *greedy grin*
think i will walk to raffles place mrt today, see if they giving out any freebies there...arhaha

my mum says i'm slow.
well, i guess that's true. coz i've only just fallen for the yummilicious TAKUYA KIMURA.
mum says he's already been hot and famous for eons. ah dammit, why didn't i watch more tv? all those wasted hours i could have spent drooling at him.
HE'S DAMN GOOD LOOKING AND DAMN MEGA CUTE LAH!!!!!!
because of him, i'm now an auntie - i make sure i get home in time to watch "Good Luck!" at 7.30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays (i wonder why Channel U doesn't show it all day, at all times...stupid Channel U)
i gush at him over dinner. my eyes never leave the tv. the spoon misses my mouth as all bodily functions melt at the sight of him.
ok, i'm exaggerating, but you get the picture.
he looks so good in that pilot uniform that i can SEEEXXXXX him anytime. ALL THE TIME.
-------------------------------------------------
EDITED:
now superior miss fengmin says i'm slow...coz she has supposedly been married to takuya since longlong time ago when "long vacation" was shown. how i suppose to know when you never invite me to the wedding?
hrmph.
talking about takuya made me so hot and distracted that i forgot to attach a document to an email i sent out *hangs head in shame* thank goodness it's quite an internal email and not sent out to any bigwigs!
*slinks home to watch "good luck!"*
---------------------------------------------------
FURTHER EDITED:
the superior miss fengmin snorts at me for being so out of the loop and would like to add:
"i was also sitting almost drooling and cannot do anything else cept gape open mouthed and dreamy eyed at the delicious treat of TAKUYA!!!"
sort of diminishes the "superior" effect to a wet, starry-eyed puddle....arhahahahahaha

it might have been the relief i felt, to be at the end of my first, full-time work week.
it might have been the fact that i was out and about, for a non-work reason.
it might have been because i actually have a full-time job now.
maybe it was because i was with feng.
whatever it was, i went absolutely bonkers - SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!!
what started out as a i-wana-meet-you-coz-i-miss-you thingy quickly became a let's-see-how-much-zenn-and-feng-can-spend-today EVENT.
we were suppose to look for work clothes. but did we go into any work-clothes-selling places?
NO.
we first weaved into paragon - coz it was on the way to heeren, coz i can't walk past paragon without going in for a look, coz it was so bloody hot that paragon was a refreshing shelter (yesyes, just blame the weather).
in less than a minute, the words "RELOCATION SALE" caught my eye, and we made a beeline into stuart weitzman.
rows and rows of delicious footwear-of-all-kinds. stilletos, pumps, slippers, pointy-toes, round-toes, no-toes....all screaming "pick me! pick me!" ... i swear, if those shoes had hands and legs, they would be jumping up and down, waving for attention.
or maybe it's just me.
the quiet of the store (or should i call it a BOUTIQUE) was interrupted by my "OOOOOOOOOs" and "AHHHHHHHs"...and the occasional "RAAAHHHHs" (when i saw a lovely pair that no longer came in my size!)
i must have looked so un-atas to the taitais on those plush cushions, tying on their strappy, blingbling heels.
but i found IT - the first pair of heels i've fallen in love with since my return from melbourne (state of the gorgeous shoes). it felt right the moment i slipped it on. a perfect fit, even though it was slightly stiff coz the leather's so spanking new. not as high-heeled as i'm used to (i think my feet will thank me for this), just right for wearing out and walking miles.
but it's so pretty, i may just frame it up and gaze at it at home. (or showcase it at the next breast cancer awareness event, since it's now known as my breast cancer shoes, no thanks to colin -_-)
i couldn't resist. so i watched the man walk away with my card. he returned, and handed me my new precious, nestled in a PURPLE shoebox, in a cream suart weitzman paperbag.
and a receipt for $290. usual price of the shoes: $570.
i sure know how to break into my bank account with a big bang.
we headed to heeren immediately after that - because boutiques in heeren are suppose to be cheaper than those in paragon.
feng and i tried on jeans at levi's (one jeans sha1 liang3 zhi1 niao3 haha). there was one pair that actually fit me nice. but with my heart (and card) still palpitating from the shoe-buy, i decided to KIV the jeans.
i think i will go back next week to get it. wahahaha
our next stop at mon chevon got me a nice, rainbow, flowy top and a cream work/dress jacket, at a whooping $261.
oh man, oh man.
we then went to benno...where i tried on a purple skirt that led colin to suggest that i be tinkerbelle on halloween, him peter pan, feng wendy, grace the crocodile, ah hock as captain hook. need to research on other peter pan characters.
i pranced around the store in my swirly purple skirt, pondering about whether i should buy it. i must have irritated the salesperson so...she tried to get me to try on tops with it but i was too distracted talking on the phone. after looking at myself in the mirror a million times, i finally paid for it. benno should thank feng for praising me in my skirt and making me wana buy it even more haha
i was on a shopping high. my conversation with xiang on the phone didn't make much sense. my thoughts were scattered, i was moaning about the money spent, but wowing about the beautiful things i bought.
he told me to go home so i wouldn't spend more. arhaha
ian, loon and gracie then joined us and we went to cineleisure foodcourt for a late dinner. thereafter, gracie, feng and i joined edmund and gang and ended up at alleybar. it was quite nice, sitting there in the dark with my babes, meeting new people, talking about old ones, getting happy-high (for feng) and making sure the music we're hearing was not just playing in our heads.
called it a night after 1am.
haven't had such a big shopping outing in singapore before. it was as wonderful as my sprees in melbourne. i think a big part of enjoying the shopping came from the good service we got today. the salespeople were wonderful - friendly, helpful, not pushy (which was kinda surprising coz i've frequently had horrid experiences with sales staff in singapore).
love how it feels, to be floating on euphoria, with all the gorgeous new buys in my hand.
but enough of that for now. i need to top up my bank account.

argh! it's raining cats and dogs at the most unfortunate hour! going to be 5pm (KNOCK-OFF TIME!) soon and it doesn't seem as if the cloud is anywhere near finished crying.
how am i going to go home?!?!
want to get off work on time today - to avoid the 6pm home-going crowd, to get home for dinner before coaching at 8pm, to get out of the office since i don't seem to have much to do today...
*hai* silly rain...so perfect a weather for sleeping...but such a depressing one for travelling and when stuck in the office!

saw this link on mr brown's website and thought to share it with everyone:

some of the postcards are sad, some thought-provoking, some quite funny, some scary, others you don't know whether to laugh or to cry.

morton's was...hmmm...disappointing......i know i'm cheapskate, but i didn't expect the complimentary steak sandwiches to appear only once every 40 minutes.
a waiter with a tray full of sandwiches would herald so much attention from the eagle-eyed crowd, that i was surprised he didn't drop the whole thing. or perhaps he basked in evil delight - at making us wait for so long, just to get our hands on ONE tiny, finger length, yummilicious steak sandwich done to perfection. yes. ONE, per person, per round, ONLY.
i was there for about an hour and a half, and i had 2 sandwiches. granted they were free (usual price: $20 for FOUR of the teeny tiny things), but hrmph...i was craving for MORE!!!
plus the service was really quite slow and lousy for a hotel, and a restaurant of supposedly high standards. hock requested for a drinks menu, and it never came. we asked for the bill twice, and waited, and waited, and waited. it was only on the third time, when we asked the guy-who-looked-like-he's-in-charge, that we got the bill...and it was wrong too...they charged us for TEN martinis..when our table only had three...bleahz...
oh but those sandwiches were yum......(maybe the wait made them even MORE YUM..but STILL!!!!!!!) haha
went over to rouge and then to zouk after that...gracie and huat went on a last-minute shopping thingy with me to get a top for clubbing, coz i didn't want to look all corporate in my pants and long-sleeved shirt...10minutes at topshop got me a white top (thanks to huat's fantastic straight eye for the straight girl) that looked decently clubby...
i was primed for a good night, and a good night it was indeed. after going MIA from the clubbing scene for such a long time, it felt good to be back in the whole mingle wingle of the "beautiful people".
despite my heels giving me terribly achy, painful feet, i managed to dance/stand/perch my night away to the rather good music at both rouge and zouk. to cap it off, there was a fight (or two) at zouk and we caught some of the action outside, when the police arrested this retarded malay dude who was blabbering away and resisting and supposedly molested fiona xie in velvet. -_-
so anywayz...that exciting night was the start of a rather tiring but enjoyable weekend. walked around in bugis with my parents on saturday (and bought a new work bag!), did my nails, then met gracie for a nice, quiet dinner, and sat around with ang, bernz, huat and ian before heading home...squeezed in a swim at the club on sunday before going to town to get another new, bigger work bag (woohoo!), then had a serene night at club and driving around east coast with xiang...
it's now the beginning of my first, full work week...with hope, i'll have more constructive things to do today than on friday, when i felt totally crap and useless.
i'm the first in the office at 0845...nothing to do, that's why i'm blogging now haha my colleagues only came in after 0915! haha early bird catches the worm? more like early zenn turns on the aircon... =)
i need a cup of hot tea......
Friday, April 01, 2005
spent in labrador park (of all places) with kiddies on a MILK thingy (i only start work tomorrow leh!!!!!! haha) went to meet my new colleague, and to get a feel of one of the "events" that MILK runs...quite fun actually, except for the ants...there were a million little red ants at our lunch site...MAN! keep getting bitten! and, as with ants, i kept thinking there were ants all over me, even after i'd gotten rid of them...RRAAAAHHHHH!!
after that, my colleague ee ling and i headed to our office...100 amoy street needed cleaning up before we officially start work tomorrow. ee ling and i cleaned out the fridge and attempted to get rid of the icky sweet caramel smell in it...we arranged all the stationery and stuffs in typical neat, OCD-girls style...and i went on to vacuum the place...back-breaking experience i tell you!!! the place was flithy!!! the silly osim vacuum cleaner couldn't pick up the bits properly when it had the flat head (that what it's called?) fastened on...so i had to use the headless stick (..?..) to painstakingly suck up all the little yucky bits...RRRAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!
but we had nice green curry at tuk tuk next door after we finished up at 9pm...
just realized that both my main meals today consisted of hothot stuffs...dinner at tuk tuk, lunch with mum at katong laksa...
oh man, katong laksa...the touting there is HORRIBLE!!!!!! shouts coming from all directions, "eh lai chi laksa, zhe bian de hao chi", "lai, zhe bian zuo" NON-STOP!!!!!! drove me nuts as we walked down the street trying to find the mee pok that has just shifted from kembangan...couldn't find it...the notice at it's kembangan stall said that they've moved to 53, east coast rd...but we didn't see it along that stretch...must go back and check......cannot live without my SHIOK kembangan mee pok..haha
tomorrow (or rather, today) is the beginning of a new chapter in my life...the zenn-as-a-fulltime-worker/shentonite era...i don't know what to wear i don't know what to wear!!!!! arhahaha (i'm such a bimbo. need to go shopping.)
oh yes..and ah hock has very wonderfully organized a FREE STEAK SANDWICHES - and - $7.50 MARTINIS - at - MORTON'S thingy to mourn the passing of my bum days and rejoice in the start of my 9-5 workaholic days (actually, he's just using me as an excuse to enjoy free food...haha but gatherings are always welcomed and much enjoyed, so i'm not complaining..hehz)...
everyone who hasn't read his emails/blog/multiply, here are the details:
venue: MORTON'S @ THE ORIENTAL @ MARINA
time: 5-7pm
come down and join us if you can...don't know what we'll be doing after, but give us a ring if you can't make it for free sandwiches but can for later things...
"can for later things" - *roll eyeballs* a sure sign that i need sleep...am so very tired right now, and aching from my swims the past few days, and from vacuuming...
wish me luck for my first day at work! =)
