cab companies should all charge the same (LOW) fares...so that passengers (like me!) do not have to thinkthinkthink about the charges when we hail a cab!
i'm a comfort cabber...don't know why...but the blue comfort cabs just seem more...comfortable? and cheaper...(yes i know it may sound stupid, but it's just the same as me choosing to use nokia phones over motorolas, nikes over reeboks, crumplers over deuters...)
anyways...i got into a citycab today...at 11.38pm. i thought i was being clever - not that i had a choice since the cab was in the front of the queue and i didn't want to be a bitch and walk past it to get to the comfort cab - but yeah...i thought i was being clever, coz i remembered that citycabs charge only 30% more from midnight to 0030hrs...and i thought i'd be saving some money IF my cab ride lasted more than 22minutes.
nasty shock it was that i got, when the cab started and i saw A RED in the box where the extra charges normally appear.
horrors of horrors!!! i forgot that, while citycab only starts charging the full midnight charge from 0030hrs, they begin extra charges at 2330 hours!!! 10% more than the metered fare will be added to your final bill, if you take a citycab from between 2330hrs to midnight...
i was devastated (ok, not THAT drama mama..but i was thinking of all the sweets, and mcdonald's ice creams, and cheap ball-point pens, and surprise chocolates i could have bought with that 10% =/ )
i spent the entire cab ride staring in envy at comfort cabbers (and there were PLENTY of them around...zooming past me, MOCKING me!!!)
it was quite a pleasant ride though, and the cabbie drove pretty fast so i got home in no time (i.e. BEFORE midnight)...plus he's quite nice and took 10cents off my fare so that it'd be a nice round $9 (would have been $8 in a comfort *grumble mumble* )...haha
ah well..at least i had a nice cabbie who wished me "a good night ahead" =)
