here i am in new york,
half way through jodi picoult's latest book
about a high school shooting
where a student shot and killed 10 people.

over in virginia today,
more than 30 people lost their lives
when a gunman went on a rampage at virginia tech.

so unreal, it's like a story jumping out of the pages of my book.
and yet, all too real.
