ahhhh it's been a while hasn't it? WARNING: long entry ahead......haha

HELLLLLOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! *does the mad wavewave*

[the clickety-click of my lappie sounds so good haha]

how's everyone? i feel like i've just been let outa jail...or like i've just recovered from some life-threatening illness that kept me locked away from the rest of the world for a longlong time......hmmm that's actually kinda true...but replace the 'life-threatening illness' with 'brain-shrinking madness'...and my asylum? the singapore red cross society!!!

yeap...i'm like a full-fledged red crosser (sounds like some cross dresser......) ...been going there everyday for the past couple of weeks...just to chip in abit to help the tsunami victims....you know what they say lahz: if you don't have the money, you provide the labour...so that's what i've been doing...the hours have been long, but i guess that's a good thing coz it means that the money's coming in for the cause...

however, i currently HATE currency

money is SMELLY, GERMY, YUCKY and WRINKLY and i hate counting them...they make ur fingers smell like fish and turn black and smudgy!!!!!! and woe betide you if you miss one (the bloody $10 plastic notes ALWAYS stick to one another), coz you'll have to count them ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!!! RAH!!!!!!

coins are disgusting too...not only are they smelly, they are heavy and come in buckets and take bloody long to stack and count.....unless of course you have the coin-counting machine...which makes life so much easier......

but money-hating aside...it's been good (even fun!) helping out...so many touching moments - the little kid emptying his/her life-savings outa his/her piggy bank; the old uncle who donated half his month's salary; the frail granny who travelled from jurong... ...and it's been enjoyable meeting so many new people, and spending time with friends...that little room at the red cross headquarters can make you go quite crazy and laugh alot (or maybe it's just me)......

or maybe it's the weirdos/annoyers we get sometimes...the people who want receipts coz they think that'll mean their names will be engraved on some tribute thingy; people who come with a fucking long list of names and wanting a receipt for EACH AND EVERYONE OF THEM; people who want receipts for $2 (OR LESS) donations......

this guy handed me a letter from his company stating how much they are "pleased to be donating", then asked me if i needed the letter..and when i said no, he went "how can you say no? you must say yes, i would LOVE to have the letter, then go frame it up and hang it on the wall!" WTF...if you're doing it for a good cause, you don't need recognition...the victims need your money, wtf i take that useless piece of paper for? and hello?! it's only $300+...i'm not discriminating or anything, but there're individuals who donate more than that...

another pompous ass brought in $18000+ from his company's staff (not HIS company, but like...he works there) and sat there with arms crossed, eyeballing me while i counted the cash...he kept asking questions while his pleasant lady colleague just sat beside him and looked uncomfortable:

"are you a volunteer?"
yes
"do you get paid"
no (HELLO?!? does the word VOLUNTEER mean anything to you??????)
*mumbles to colleague: "what i'm worried about is where our money is going"*
"what do you all eat for meals?"
oh most of the time restaurants donate food for us to eat
"oh so when they don't, you use the donation money to buy food lah"
no other people will buy it for us
"using the donations lah..so that's where the money goes"
*stops counting, stares at him, contemplates throwing his freaking money in his face, decides his share was probably only $10, gives du lan face, then goes back to counting and only addresses his lady colleague from then on*

i'm not a freakin GOD who survives on the fishy smell of cash and the stink of wankers who only know how to spout nonsense.

but yes. enough complaining...other than for these few instances when you feel like whacking the shit outa people, life as a red crosser is filled with love, peace, laughs, serious discussions on where the money goes and how to help the victims, and, sometimes, boredom...

it has also made me cherish the times i have with my friends more...the few red-eyed nights when i managed to meet up with friends were all the more fulfilling coz they made me feel alive even when i was so tired...

and coz traffic has slowed down quite abit since the start of the donation drive, i've been able to play hooky and go off to have some fun...*grins with glee*

the swim shadys did their maiden 2005 performance last week at anderson secondary school...had a good time video-ing their show, and their autograph-signing session and traumatising them by telling theswamps of girls to call out their fave guy's name when they take photos with them...wahaha you should have seen the look on ben's and xiang's faces...PRICELESS!!!

there was also a show on this saturday past...at taka during the boys' brigade's aniversary thingy at civic plaza...that went ok but the lunch we had after that was EVEN BETTER!!! haha tristan treated me, xiang, tony, kenneth and chingching to a YUMMYLICIOUS jap meal at this jap place at paragon...the 6 of us had $500 worth of food!!!!!!!! oiishi seared tuna belly (one TINY slice at $24 a pop), melt-in-your-mouth fish cheek thingy, ice-cold cha soba (bloody tony and xiang actually packed ice balls with the ice and THREW THEM AT ME!!!!!!), orgasmic unagi sushi and salmon skin handroll, and a sweet, super overpriced dessert of a slice of marshmelon (or however you spell it) that's this honeydew-like fruit flown in from japan and served at $12 per thin slice.........extravagant indeed...thanks thanks to generous tristan for the great meal...

i had marina south steamboat that same day tooooo!!! muahahaha *rolls around laughing at my fatness* coz it was xiang's mum's birthday and since i was bumming at his place after the performance, i joined them for her birthday dinner...it was yummy and i ate a dozen butter-drenched chickens and got splattered by alot of oil and left the place smelling like a barbie-Q *grin*

and i actually went for a swim yesterday (attempting to get rid of some of that jap food and the steamboat)...couldn't move!!! haha swam a few laps in the icy water then sunk into the blissfully warm jacuzzi...mmmmmm had fun screaming at xiang to swim faster and timing his 25m free haha qi, xiang and i then had yet another very full meal at club (CSC's FRIED PRAWN ROLLS are DELISH!!!!!!!!)...but not SO full until xiang and i couldn't have supper at 85!!! muahaha

oh and i'm back to drowning kiddies!!! haha thanks to chris who gave me this lobang...i went for my first lesson today and managed to not kill my cute 5-year-old jap boy (his name is kentaro!) haha had a pretty tough time actually, coz he can't speak english (other than "ok", "come" and other teeny words) and he's afraid of getting his head wet...good thing i brought some toys to keep him interested..and he liked my goggles and tried them on and managed to put his goggled eyes in water (he emerged rattling in jap...i looked to his mum who translated: "he say the bottom is very dirty" wahahahaha kentaro then did a "smelly" gesture with his hand) so cute....i'm looking forward to the next lesson on thurs... =)

ok...it's been a super long entry that probably no one's gonna read in its entirety but what the hell...i've missed typing in this little "create a post" space...*hiakz*

anywayz...hope everyone's doing well and having fun...congrats to my darling minmin on getting the job!!!!!!! so proud of you that i'm not gonna chastise you for leaving me all alone in the slums of the unemployed haha *beams like a mum*
